On behalf of the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues at the University of Birmingham, UK, I would like to extend our congratulations to you on the establishment of a Taiwanese Philosophy of Education Society. We have been astounded in the past at the vibrancy and vigor of this field in Taiwan, at a time when it seems to be in serious decline in the UK and USA. Here, teacher training is gradually being shifted towards a form of elevated apprenticeship, with foundational subjects such as Philosophy, History, and Sociology of Education falling by the wayside. At the same time in Taiwan, the field seems to be burgeoning, and there are probably few countries in the world where as many trained educational philosophers have university posts in their chosen field.

We are certain that a formal society, such as the one that you are establishing now, will further strengthen the field in Taiwan, and we look forward to future co-operations with your society and its members.

春回大地，萬象更新。在這個美麗的季節，欣聞臺灣教育哲學學會正式成立。我謹代表大陸教育哲學專業委員並以我個人的名義對貴會的成立表示最衷心的祝賀！對為貴會的成立做出長期努力、奠定扎實基礎的同仁們表示崇高的敬意！

關於教育問題的哲學思考古已有之，至近代而順應學科分化及教育實踐之需求而成為一獨立的知識領域。兩岸教育哲學同根同源，一方面秉承中華文化幾千年哲學和教育思想的豐厚遺產，另一方面也深受世界他國哲學和教育哲學思想之影響，在研究的歷史、視野、主題、方法、組織、人才培養、實踐應用及面臨的挑戰和存在的問題等諸方面都有許多可待交流、探討與相互借鑒之處。近年來，在學界前輩們的關懷和大力推動下，在兩岸同仁的積極組織和熱心參與下，兩岸教育哲學研究者包括青年研究生之間的學術交流日趨活躍，對雙方教育哲學研究的使命、現狀和進展也更加熟悉，奠定華人世界教育哲學未來繁榮的良好基礎。

誠望貴會的成立，能夠進一步擴大和深化兩岸教育哲學的交流，為兩岸的學術進步、教育改革與民眾福祉做出新的貢獻！誠邀貴會的諸位同仁在方便的時候來北京師範大學訪問並出席大陸地區的教育哲學學術年會。
